Billie J spent his childhood bent over a sheet of paper with a pencil in one hand and a glass of milk in the other. Drawing was an escape from the world, but also a way of making sense of it. At the age of 16 and while still at school, he had his first illustration published in The Sunday Times newspaper. He went on to study at the Chelsea School of Art and then specialized in illustration at Central Saint Martins.
Billie J creates his eclectic work through the use of biros and Indian ink on paper and then composes in Photoshop. Draftsmanship underpins his illustrations alongside a playful approach and a capacious imagination.
Billie J lives and works in London.
